We’re so excited to announce In & Around C, a participatory art and music installation that will take place on August 16-30, 2012 at Gallery One Twenty Eight. Here’s how it works:
- Five large vinyl lines meet the gallery entrance. This enlarged music staff welcomes participants before retreating to circumnavigate the gallery.
- Participants are pulled sonically and visually towards performing ensembles that are reading and interpreting the “notes” on the staff. These “notes” consist of the heads of the participants, which are captured via a webcam and transmitted to a wall-mounted screen.
- In the interim between live performances, an algorithm designed by Gabe Taubman for In & Around C will convert participants’ figures into musical notation and sound.
Like what you hear? (Or will hear, rather…) Then support our Kickstarter campaign! There are some amazing goodies that you’ll actually want, including the tote bag and necklaces pictured above. You don’t need to be Richie Rich to support the project: for as little as $10, you can have a miniature piece of art in the form of a frame-worthy postcard. Other perks include drawings by Mad Mohre and a ticket to our exclusive opening night event.
